Do you suspect
that your newly purchased used car has more miles on it than the odometer shows?
Check
mileage readings on titles, prior odometer disclosure statements, warranties,
service records, etc. for any discrepancies or signs of alteration. Look for oil
change or inspection stickers under the hood or on the doorframe, in addition
to warranty documents or service records in the glove box.
 | Here
are some physical signs that may help identify odometer tampering: |
| | 1. | Scratches
or marks on the odometer or face dial | | | 2. | Misaligned
digits and missing or loose screws | Check
other parts of the vehicle to see if the wear corresponds to the mileage.
The
following is some Federal Law odometer information: (Title 49, Chapter 327 - Odometers)
